After humble beginnings as a corn field, the Marina emerged in the early 1960s as "Ranch Club Marina #1". Over the course of the next 30 years piers were added, swimming pool built and many other improvements made, resulting in today what many consider to be one of the finest marina facilities on the Chesapeake Bay.

On site managers Trevor and Liz Richards are part owners of the facility, having arrived at Spring Cove in 1988 after sailing around the world in search of the perfect marina! Solomons Island is rich in history.

Although the first settlements in the Patuxent Region were the tobacco farms of the 17th and 18th centuries, Solomons itself came into prominence after the civil war. It began as a fishing community famous for its oysters and shipyards. By 1892, Solomons was Calvert County's most important commercial center. The town was firmly planted on the map during World War II when it housed an amphibious training base through which thousands of troops passed on their way to the beaches of Normandy. During the latter part of this century, the Island has become more and more focused on the recreational side of boating with marinas, restaurants, and charter boats flourishing. Today Solomons is one of the most popular boating destinations on the Bay. You will still find the quaint, friendly atmosphere which attracted the first settlers as well as all the conveniences of a full service boating center.

The Calvert Marine Museum, just 100 yards from the marina, has a detailed history of the area and is home to the Drum Point Lighthouse and the "Wm. B. Tennison" , a 100 year old bugeye which is the oldest licensed passenger vessel on the Bay.

With the abundance of the Bay close at hand, it is natural

that the area Restaurants feature seafood prominently on their menus. Spring Cove's Naughty Gull Restaurant, situated on a picturesque cove on the north side of the property, has arguably the best crab cakes in town, while your dining choices in Solomons range from fast-food to gourmet. Spring Cove Marina is a 246 slip facility on close to 10 acres of property with an abundance of trees, lawns, gardens and natural vegetation, making this one of the most attractive marinas on the East coast. It offers the services and amenities you would expect to find in a first class modern marina, but with the friendliness of a family run business. The Location of the Marina could not be more convenient. The Holiday Inn and The Comfort Inn are adjacent north and south, the new Medical Center adjacent to the west, and within a short walk are the Maritime Museum and the Patuxent Plaza. The Plaza contains Woodburns World Class Gourmet Deli, West Marine, Post Office, Liquor Store, Fast Food and more.
